7 days. Tulum. Vacation Differently.
What is Pala Retreats?
Our focus
Bring aspiring and practicing entrepreneurs together to enjoy the best parts of the padel scene in Tulum. Share ideas. Get inspired by each other.
The goal
When you leave, you're better at padel and you know more about yourself. You've made friends and enjoyed a vacation in Tulum. You're inspired by an idea.
The founder
I grew up in Texas, lived a while in LA, and eventually followed my gut to Mexico. Best decision I've made.
I started playing padel in December 2025 and got hooked. I loved everything about it: the competition and the space to be myself.
Pala Retreats combines everything I've loved about my life these past five years working remotely: Tulum, padel, travel, community, and entrepreneurship.
This is the first edition in Mexico: be a part of something that's growing.
Values
Discover More
Travel and competition are all about discovery. Discovery of new places, new people, and yourself.
Be Authentic
Authenticity isn't always pretty, but it's the foundation for connecting with people.
Push Yourself
There's no better place to start pushing yourself than coming to a new place and trying a new sport with a bunch of people you've never met.
Respect the Court
Things can get heated in competitive team sports. Be authentic, but also be respectful to yourself and to everyone else on the court.
What's included
10 hours of structured coaching led by Carlos Gonzales, trained at the Gustavo Pratto Academy (the program behind world #1 Arturo Coello). More on Carlos below.
11 hours of dedicated group match play, plus 1 open community session (Saturday, 6:30pm–late) where the club opens its courts to you and the local community.
I chose Trobbu, a boutique collection of luxury villas, for its proximity to the courts, excellent reviews, and all-inclusive, personalized experience. Tiered room options: every package comes with a private bedroom and bathroom.
À la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Unlimited snacks throughout the day, plus an on-site pizza oven for artisanal Neapolitan-style pies.
A proper welcome dinner at one of my favorite high-end restaurants in the hotel zone.
Entry fee covered. Includes access to the lagoon, padel boarding, and kayak.
One 60-minute massage (tip included), a group temazcal, a recovery/mobility class, an ice bath session mid-week, and a full-day pass to Moku Wellness Spa (dry sauna, cold plunge, jacuzzi).
Pick-up and drop-off from Tulum (TQO) or Cancun (CUN), plus daily transport to the courts and group activities.

FAQ
All levels welcome. Ideally, you've either played racket sports competitively before or have played padel before, even just for fun. Your level will be shared with the coaches beforehand so we can group you with the right people.
Practicing or aspiring entrepreneurs who want to play padel and share ideas with new people who share similar interests.
If you're looking to party for a week, it's probably not the right fit.
I talk to everyone individually beforehand. When I talk to people, I am both making sure we are the right fit for them and they are the right fit for Pala Retreats. As a recruiter in my previous life, not only am I very good at discerning the character, intentions, and overall vibe of someone, but also at making sure they fit within the collective as a whole.
The most important thing is that everyone feels safe and comfortable during the retreat.
7 nights at Trobbu Tulum (tiered levels of private rooms) plus all-inclusive amenities (see above), 10 hours of structured coaching, 11 hours of group match play, 1 open community session with local players, a welcome dinner on day 1, transportation (airport, courts, group activities), Lagoon Club entry cost, a 60-minute massage with tip, group temazcal, an ice bath session, a mobility/recovery class, and a full-day pass to Moku Wellness Spa.
What's not included: flights and any offsite food or drinks.
Reasonably fit. I've built a recovery day into the program, but if you're going from zero fitness to almost 20 hours of total padel (games + coaching) in one week, it's going to be a challenge.
Tulum is safe as long as you use common sense, same as most places. You're staying at Trobbu. The villas are gated with on-premise security. There's inDrive and Eiby for any one-off transportation you need as an alternative to taxis.
There are large blocks of free time built into the schedule where you can catch up on Slack and emails, even take a call if you need. Trobbu has great Wi-Fi, and I can recommend a few good coworking spaces around town if you want to dig in. The only rule is that work can't interrupt the group activities or padel sessions. Otherwise, do your thing.
Yes, bring your own racket and court gear (shoes especially). If you don't have a racket yet or aren't sure what to buy, send me a message when you reach out and I'll give you some recommendations.
Yes, the coaches are bilingual.
June through November is Atlantic hurricane season in the Yucatán. Tulum rarely takes a direct hit, but weather disruption is a possibility. If Pala Retreats has to cancel or cut the retreat short due to a hurricane, you'll get a full refund if it's before the retreat and credit towards any future edition if it's during the retreat. I strongly recommend travel insurance for your flights and anything outside my control.
You can pay in full at booking, or 50% now with the balance auto-charged 60 days before arrival. If you need to cancel:
You can transfer your spot to a friend at any time, free of charge. Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Full refund policy.
Fair question. The structure is thought out, and I'm working with partners I have relationships with (prior to Pala Retreats) and that I trust. This is what they do. The only thing new is Pala Retreats itself, which means you get my full attention and presence throughout the retreat. The success of this retreat is extremely important to me, and it will only be successful if everyone feels they got the value I've promised to deliver.
